This was so quick and easy to make and they make great gifts.

  • Satin Chinese Brocade Fabric (or fabric of choice)
  • Rice (it doesn’t matter what kind it is, since you’re not eating it, the cheaper the better)
  • Lavender (from the garden if you have it. if not, you can get organic lavender here)
  • Lavender essential oil – a few drops goes a long way (*optional)
  • Funnel (for filling the sewn pillow)
  • measuring cup (for pouring into the funnel)
  • And of course, my handy-dandy, sewing machine.
  1. Measure how big you want it to be, allowing for half an inch of sewed space
  2. Sew the 2 long sides, one short side and then half of the other short side, leaving enough room to pour your rice, lavender mix keeping in mind that you will be sewing the rest of it at the end.
  3. Using the funnel, add the lavender/rice mix, keep checking it to see how full it is. You don’t want it over-full, but full enough to feel comfortable resting on the eyes.
  4. Sew the last bit. Fold it however it folds more naturally following the seam from  before.
